January 25th, 2011
The weeks been pretty good we have still been working really hard and doing our best to find new people to teach.  We had another snow storm and the car got grounded again but it wasn't too bad.  We still kept busy.  We have about a foot and a half of snow on the ground right now but a lot of it gets blown around so its hard to tell how much there really is.   We went to a small town called Earlville last week and I think I mentioned finding a guy named Luis.  Well we had an appointment with him on Friday but couldn't get out because of the storm so we went on Saturday and he wasn't home so we went again on Monday.  He was as really excited to see us and said he had been waiting for us on Friday we apologized and told him the storm kept us from coming out. He understood and we asked if we could teach him. He said he had to go to work but that we could come back on Saturday.  That will be great, he seems to be really interested and wants to learn more so.  We went tracting in Earlville again and found the Smith family and they said they were catholic and were really busy with the kids sports.  I told them about how the church has been restored through a prophet named Joseph "Smith" haha I thought I was pretty smooth with that one.  He said we could stop by Saturday and if they were home we could teach them so hopefully they will be.

My comp is ok most the time but he is started to bug me and likes to argue and thinks he's always right but its ok only 6 more weeks than I'll have someone new.

That is great that you are so far ahead on the book of Mormon keep up the pace than you can read it twice this year.   Tell the girls I miss them and love them.   Some days are kinda hard and I don't really want to be out here but I know that its where I need to be and that it will get better with time.
love you Mommy

Hey Mommy!
Thanks for Lynne's and Hanna's emails.   Sounds like the girls are doing great which is always good.  Did you teach Gospel Doctrine or talk in Sacrament?

That story about that lady is pretty crazy its so hard sometimes for people to decipher between the Spirit and Satan he disguises himself as good to make us do evil.  It happened to me all the time and still continues to happen to me. You just have to figure it out, think it over in your head, if this is a good thing or a bad thing and than of course ask our Heavenly Father what is right.   Well I miss you and love you and hope all is well.

As for the mission it's still going really well we're still working our butts off and doing everything we can to find new people to teach.   As for Luis, we had an appointment with him on Saturday but then he wasn't home.  I don't think he did it on purpose, he probably just forgot.  He always seems really excited when he sees us so i think he is interested.   Elder Adamson got really down and mad that he wasn't there and pretty much pouted for the rest of the day haha.  It was hard though cause it really took away from the spirit and the rest of the day didn't go very well because of it.  Paul is still doing great he is asking more questions and becoming more involved with the lessons and they are working hard on getting married. I heard at church yesterday that Paul might be moving out so that he can get baptized but I'm not for sure on that yet.  That would be great if he is then we could have our first baptism in Manchester in over a year.  Faith is still the same her dad doesn't want her to get baptized till she is 12.  Her mom is still talking to her about it and says she is going to have a talk with her Dad but we don't know when that's going to happen.   None of our investigators came to Church yesterday, pretty upset about that. Paul said he was going to be there and he wasn't he hasn't been in a couple weeks and neither has Faith.  All in all the Mission is still going good we had our first transfer on Thursday but nothing changed for me.   There is a new Elder in the District named Elder Beattie he is from Bountiful.  He seems like a pretty cool kid. I'm loving being out here even though its hard at times I feel the Love of my Heavenly Father every single day and its amazing!   I've already learnt so much but still have SO much to learn I'm doing my best to study hard and stay busy and the days are just flying by.   I don't get many letters which is pretty lame but oh well its nice to have emails to look forward to.
Stay strong and keep the faith!

January 16th, 2012

Hey mom,
The work out here is going great.  We still don't have many people to teach but we are still working hard and doing what the Lord wants us to do.  We had our first snow storm last Thursday and Friday.  We got almost a foot of snow and our car was grounded on Thursday. We had to walk for most of the day through the snow, haha.  It wasn't bad, it was actually kinda fun!    The only bad part about here is the wind and the humidity.  It seriously feels like you got your face wet before you walked outside, haha.  We went to a small neighboring town called Earlville on Friday and went tracting.  We found a Hispanic man that was interested and spoke good English.  He said we could come back on Friday and teach him.  So that is pretty much awesome!   Not much happened this last week other than that so its kind of a short email.  I'm glad Tessi got to come down and go to the game and stuff with you.  Haha and make sure Walkers girl doesn't wait for me cause if she does Walker doesn't stand a chance haha just kidding... but seriously!   I'm sorry about the pictures I keep running out of time with emails so I don't have time to download any.  I will do it first thing next week.
Well I gotta run, I love you and pray for you!
Love Elder Jach.

(So the Walker story is this. … Walker is Jordan's brother.  We spent Saturday evening with the whole Wood family and Walker's new girlfriend.  I just loved her, so jokingly …. It really was a joke Walker :)…. told her I had a cute son so if things didn't work out with Walker I could introduce her to him when he comes home.   I told Izach because I knew he too would appreciate his mother's humor)   Gosh though poor Walker he is gonna really hate me now.  As if making his brother marry my daughter before poor Walker got home from his mission wasn't enough.  Truly sorry Walker. :(

January 9, 2011
Isn't it crazy how fast the time is going.  I hope it's going as fast for you as it is for me the weeks just keep blending together.  I have that picture on my camera of Conner Peck and I in the MTC.   I will try and download some next week and send them in my email.  I'm excited for your new calling as well.  (Jeff and I were just called as the Book of Mormon Co-ordinators)  The Book of Mormon is SO amazing and can seriously help anyone of any age. It shouldn't be too hard to motivate the ward members to read, just promise them blessing as they read the book.  They will receive blessings from our Heavenly Father and they will see those blessing and start to WANT to read instead of feeling like they have to.  There are so many blessings that come from the Book of Mormon and like I said they can help anyone through seriously any type of situation from Ammon who fought off the Lamenites when they tried to scatter the flocks to Nephi having to kill Laban to receive the brass plates to the girl Abish that ran to tell all the people that the King was overcome with the Spirit of the Lord. There are so many stories and teachings in the Book of Mormon.  I know that as they start to read that they will begin to receive those blessing that they need and even some that are just extras.   The Lord is here for us and wants to bless us, all we have to do is keep his commandments and ask for his help and BAM in flow the blessings, haha.    Well hopefully that will help a little bit! =)

We haven't been able to go see the guy from Chicago again he was gone last time we went over but hopefully we will be able to soon.  Paul is continuing to progress we just need him to get married than we can baptize him.

I'm loving the field still and I'm having a great time.  The members out here are so kind and loving and are always inviting us over, it's great.
Well gotta run but I love you and hold to the rod!

January 2, 2011

It's hard right now because I'm still home sick and there are days that I just don't want to be here, but it's getting easier and the more I work and study the better it is.  I'm trying to study a lot and read a lot I just finished the Book of Mormon that was exciting. Now I'm reading Our Search for Happiness it's pretty good and I should be done with it by this weekend.  I want to read the Book of Mormon once each transfer.   I think that is a good goal to have.

I'm glad that Jeff is doing good at work he seems to have a great attitude in his emails.  So that's good.   That's exciting that you got a new calling.  I'm sure you will do great at it.

The teaching is going good the investigators are doing good but Faith the little girl's dad doesn't want her to get baptized because he thinks she doesn't understand what she is doing. He told her that she couldn't drink soda with caffeine in it if she got baptized so she said she doesn't know if she wants to anymore because she wants to drink soda with caffeine  Haha.  So we had to explain that its not a commandment not to drink caffeine and we went over the word of wisdom again with her so she understood it better.   We still don't know when we'll be able to get her baptized.    The dad of the other family that moved into the Ward is  Paul.  He is not a member but wants to become one.   He was really enthusiastic and wanted to take the lessons as fast as possible so he could be baptized really soon which was great. Then we found out that they aren't married yet so we had to explain that they need to get married before he can get baptized.  He probably won't be baptized for a couple of months, but he still wants to so that is good.    We haven't had the chance to meet with the guy from Chicago again yet but hopefully we will soon. His name is Quinton.

I miss you a lot.  Give the girls lots of hugs and kisses from me.   That is great that Baylee and Abbey came over with presents for the girls.  I love that family they sent me a Christmas card in the mail so that was fun.   I'm loving the people out here and the opportunity that I have to preach the gospel.   It is so amazing and can bless our lives so much.   The people out here have a lot of funny opinions on Mormons and "their beliefs" but most of them won't even take the time to hear what we have to say.   It's hard but its ok cause it just makes us work that much harder.   This is the best first area I could have gotten.  I have the best members in the branch.  It's a hard area so I have to work my butt off to get new investigators.  I probably get to be here for 6 months so that will be awesome.
Much love, Elder Jach.
