December 26, 2011

What you think cause you skyped with me yesterday that you dont need to write me?  You were complaining that I wouldn't write to you but I'm doing better than you are! Haha It was so great to get to talk with you yesterday thanks so much for setting it up with Tessi and Morgan too.  That was so awesome!  I forgot to ask Jeff in his email but will you get the recipe for the noodles and sausage thing that he makes that I really like.  Please and Thankyou!
Well I love you mom and pray for you and the fam everyday.  I'm glad that the blessings are starting to flow in, and I know they will continue to do so.  I'm so thankful for everything you have done for me and I love you a lot!
Love your boy, the missionary Elder Jach!

We did Skype with Izach on Christmas day.   He talked about his door knocking experiences and laughed at the slammed doors.  They are teaching a young girl and her father and have another one that looks hopeful.  He was homesick, but doing great.  The members in his area really look after them.  He said he had Christmas presents from the members.  I thought that was amazing, especially as they don't even know him yet (he would have been there just over a week).   Yes I did forget to write to him..... what a terrible mother.

December 19, 2011

I finally made it out here.  The mission field has been great so far.  I'm in a little town called Manchester there is about 7000 people here but we only have a small branch of about 70. I plan on making it a ward by the time  I leave this area by reactivating inactives and by finding new investigators.  We only have one investigator right now, a little girl who's parents were inactive and divorced. We've been working with her a lot making sure she's ready to be baptized. The only thing that's holding her back right now is her dad he's not sure if she wants to or if it's just her mom pushing her to do it. Her mom is coming back to church and seems to be doing really well, so hopefully it will get better with time. My companions name is Elder Adamson he's a great guy. He is from Idaho and loves the outdoors. The members of the branch are great. They take really good care of us and make dinner for us most nights so that is always good. We have a lot of families that want us to come over for Christmas I'm not sure if we will make it to all of them but we're gonna try!  So funny story, the first day I got to my new area we went tracting for a little while. The very first door we knocked on an old guy came to the window wrapped in a blanket. He sat and stared at us for about two minutes. He then looked at our name tags and locked his door and turned and walked away. Hahaha I thought it was so funny!!!  Especially since it was my very first door.  Ha it still makes me laugh!  We've gone tracting a few times and most of the time we get the door slammed in our face before we can even say what we are doing. Sometimes people will take the time to hear what we have to say before they tell us that they already have a faith and they're sticking to it.   We try to explain that we just want to share a message about Jesus Christ but they don't care. It's frustrating at times but its ok cause those few people we do find that seem a little interested make it all worth while.

Everything is going pretty good out here it was tough the first few days but I'm doing a lot better now than I was. I'm more home sick out here than I was in the mtc.  Ironically we were just at an inactive members house talking about birds and how they will sit on shoulders because she has a few birds.  Ha so that's funny that you got one. I'm glad you are doing ok I'm  keeping you in my prayers.

Just so you (reader of this blog) aren't confused.  When I (Kim) wrote to Izach I told him that we got a parakeet on the day he left and that Bailee has been training it to sit on her shoulder.

Letters from the MTC

November 22, 2011
Hey everyone I'm doing great the MTC it is such an amazing place.  I love it!  The first few days were really hard but now that I've been here for a while it seems to be going smoother!  The food here is good and I've been eating a TON!!!  Somehow I still haven't gained any weight! What's up with that?

I love my companion already  his name is Elder Meservy he is from Salem Utah!  He is district leader and I'm his senior companion.  We had an Elder leave our district already because of medical reasons so me and Elder Meservy have another companion which was hard at first but now that we've got the hang of it, it is great.   He adds more ideas and more thought when we teach our lessons.   We have already taught several investigators and it is really fun.   We have a set time limit to teach but we always seem to go over the limit. It is so amazing how fast time goes and some of the things you're able to remember when you're teaching by the spirit.

I love you all so much and am so glad to hear from you.  Keep writing every week and I will write you individual letters as soon as I get out of the MTC.  We only get 30 minutes on the computer in the MTC so not enough time to write everyone but I think I got most of the questions answered.  If not just ask them again next week and I will try and remember.
Love you all.
Thanks again!!!

Hey everyone it is so great to hear form all of you. The MTC is so amazing and I'm learning so much everyday.   I've been teaching investigators and its so crazy the things that  I can say and the way that I can touch peoples hearts by teaching by the spirit.   Thanksgiving was great we didn't have classes.   We had a few devotionals and did a humanitarian project putting together first aid kits.   It was a lot of fun!   We then got to watch "17 Miracles".    If you haven't seen it I encourage you to watch it.   It is an amazing movie.  I am so thankful for all of you in my life and the things that you have taught me.  I don't know where I would be without you all.   Keep the letters coming it is so great to hear for everyone.

Sorry I don't say much, I don't have a lot of time on the computers.  Hopefully it will get better once I get out there.  I got extended a week because of Thanks giving.   I actually came in a week earlier than I was suppose to with a ton of other missionaries so the MTC was pretty packed for a while, but it has slowed down a lot which is nice.  I am so sick of the MTC I just want to get out of here.   Most the time it feels like a prison because I can't leave and there's a fence around the whole place.   It is good because I learn a lot, but I'm sick of sitting in the classroom all day.  I leave next Wednesday.

It was really good to be able to see Dillan!   Apparently his comp and my comp know each other so we are going over there tonight to hang out before we leave in the morning!  Thats good that Dillan told  Dawna that I am amazing!  HaHa You've told me that my whole life and now that I'm here I keep hearing it from other people, not just from you telling me, they say it so I think  I'm actually starting to believe it.  I'm getting a lot of my confidence back!

One really cool experience we were teaching our teacher as an investigator for practice and we were talking and the spirit hit like a brick wall it felt like I was on fire! literally! my whole chest and stomach were burning but it wasn't like an uncomfortable burning  it was a nice I want this all the time kind of burning I think that's the first time I've actually had the burning sensation from the spirit and it was just so strong and really cool!

A girl in our district has been having some medical problems and started passing out in class! she went to the doctor a few times but they couldn't figure out what was wrong but we were in a class and we had to get up to go to a different room and she collapsed.  I had to carry her to the medical center! ha I'm not even suppose to touch a girl but I guess it had to be done! I didn't get in trouble or anything so that was good.  My branch president just told me I probably shouldn't do that again! Haha.   It's ok cause she hasn't passed out again since than so that's good!  I leave in the morning.  I have to be up at 4 to go to the travel office!

I spoke with Izach this morning.  He called from the Denver airport while waiting for his connecting flight.   You could hear the strength in his voice.  It was so wonderful.  I know he is going to be doing amazing things.  He is finally realizing who he is.   Just love that boy.

His Mission president called to let me know he has arrived safe and sound.  PDay is now Monday.
